 | Is Jesus God? |
When someone ask the question; Is Jesus God? Usually a YES or NO answer is solicited. However either answer could be wrong, depending on a number of definitions, and on WHEN in His existence we are talking about. As a general answer, I say with Thomas, Jesus “My Lord and my God.” As a more specific answer I say: When we ask, “Is” Jesus God? We are asking if He is God at the present time. Yes, Jesus is (a) God (being), if by “God” we mean that He is the first born (again) Son of God. No, Jesus is not God if we mean “God” (the Father). Another question we need to ask is, “Was” Jesus God during His 33 ˝ years on earth? Yes, Jesus was (a) God (being), if by “God” we mean that He was a BORN human being, and the first (so) BEGOTTEN Son of God. No, Jesus was not (yet) a BORN God being. Another question is, “Was” Jesus God before He was born as Jesus? No, Jesus was not (a second) God (being) before He was born. However, Jesus was the WORD of God before He was born, and the WORD of God was always with God, and the WORD of God was God. http://logoslogic.info/whydeity.html By: Robert Schmid Category: Is Jesus God? |
