Kindom-Bearers
About one hundred years ago, there was an old revival preacher named Billy Sunday. Some of you may have heard of Billy Sunday. Billy Sunday used to say that the best thing that could happen to you was that you'd go to one of his revivals, get saved, walk into the street, be run over by a Mac truck and go straight to Heaven.

That's not exactly how Jesus laid it out. The Get Saved and Die Quick plan was not Option A. He said our mission is to be Kingdom Bearers, to pray:

  • Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. May people come to realize what a glorious, good person You are. That's what a Name is about , the personhood of God. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. ''Matthew 6: 9-10''

    We are to be Kingdom-Bearers.

    Prayer and Need
Prayer reminds us of our daily need for God, and helps us trust that God will meet those daily needs. When we say, `Give us this day our daily bread, ` what we are acknowledging is that no matter how rich, or educated, or smart we are, everything we have comes from God and we need him. We are not selfmade people. When we pray, `deliver us from evil, ` what we are saying is that we are not spiritual heroes; we cannot be good on our own. We acknowledge that we need Jesus if we are going to be good. Prayer reminds us that we are the creature, not the creator, and that's important because otherwise we start to try to handle everything ourselves, and usually get in trouble, sort of like I did when the three drunk men came into my college group. Prayer reminds us of our need for God, and it is a place where we find confidence that God will take care of our needs and meet our needs. Now, as I just said, prayer needs to be more than listing our needs, but a big part of prayer is asking for things. God wants us to bring our needs and our requests to him, he wants us to do that, and when we do, we will find confidence that he will meet our needs. Maybe not our wants: but our needs. Notice we ask for daily bread, not monthly cake. It's what we need, bread, and it's as we need it, daily. We can't store it all up for years and years because then we'd never have to back to God again and probably wouldn't. We get what we need as we need it.

Why does God appreciate prayers in secret more than public prayers?
Those who make a 'show' of their prayer and devotion to God are not truly believers in the Kingdom of the Lord. The hypocrites made a show of how much they prayed to the Lord, but did not live their lives in true Christian spirit.

God wants us to pour our hearts to him freely and in a simpl manner. In public some of us might get concious n deliberately choose words and phrases to make our prayers flowery...that MIGHT HAMPER the work of HOLY SPIRIT...because of lack of concentration.. But alone in a private place we can pray without being concious n totally invlove in one to once experience with Father through JESUS with the help of HOLY SPIRIT.. We can concentrate on the presence of the Three in our private praying place instead of concentrating on people around us.

because he knows u are not trying to show off, u are true to him. u are not just trying to make urself look good to others. God is the one who can see who u truly are inside and u may fool others but he knows u.

God knows that it is you and him communicating in the prayer so there is no need to be shouting to the viewers and listeners of what you are telling God.

We are putting God first when we pray in private. We are keeping our attention solely on Him and we are keeping the world out. God doesn`t care who sees us when we pray - He cares about what is in our hearts when we are talking to Him.

    Prayer

"When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him. Pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.'
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

    Matthew 6:5-15
