Why is it evil to use oaths? Swearing is offensive to the Lord. Only the Lord can make ANY guarantee. Our swearing by anything or making any kind of oath is fraudulent because we are only here due to God`s love and mercy. It is only because the Lord wills it that we are here this very second and He can and will take that away if He chooses. So who are we to curse or swear? Why is it evil to use oaths? It is said clearly by Lord Jesus Christ that the names we use for taking oaths are beyond our usage as heaven is the throne of God to mention and earth is the footstool of God too to use for any oath and the fact that we are God`s creatures does not allow us to use our own names in oaths. Why is it evil to use oaths? We are calling the name of the Lord in vain if we swear by Him or His City or what is his inferior but yet His creation - the footstool. I understand that we would put ousrelves in a position of superiority as well as how can i say it betting our alliance to Him. Promise to do this implying if You God do that otherwise...we would turn to the devil. Also it is our responsibility when we commit our intentions on a certain matter.
